Carlota Caicoya, Ana Cortés, María Calvo [who returns from a long-term knee injury] and Amets Ulibarri have all been added for the squad. Last time out in Kenya the side finished with a bronze medal behind South Africa and Argentina.

The team finished the competitions with wins against China, Brazil and Kenya. Losses to South Africa and Argentina meant the side had to settle for third on the podium.

Spain will begin this weekend’s tournament in Uruguay against South Africa, before clashes with Brazil and Kenya to conclude Day 1. On Day 2 the team will take on Argentina and China as they hope to improve on last time out.

After this weekend’s tournament in Montevideo all 12 teams will travel to São Paulo for the final round of SVNS 2 competition.

Finishing in the top four of the overall standings will secure teams with a place at HSBC SVNS World Championship events in Hong Kong, Valladolid and Bordeaux.
