As Yaras chasing change of fortune in Montevideo
As Yaras will be hoping for a change of fortunes when HSBC SVNS 2 lands in South America for its conclusion.
Last time out in Nairobi, Crystal Kaua’s Brazil finished bottom of the six team competition with a 1-4 record. Argentina were winners, as South Africa and Spain rounding out the podium.
In Montevideo this weekend Brazil will start their campaign against Argentina, Spain and South Africa on Day 1. On day 2 they will play China and Kenya.
Aline Furtado continues to captain the team, while Leila Silva and Marina ‘Tcho’ Fioravanti are recalled to the team. Júlia Leite and Loana Valente are also named in the team as four players are ruled out through injury.
“We have been working very hard since the Kenya stage,” Crystal Kaua, As Yaras head coach, said. “Our athletes love to play for Brazil and want victory. We want to play fast, free and brave, play our way and be authentic.
“We need all the support of the fans. In good times and in difficult times. Our team is wonderful and we want to show all our passion for the game, returning the support of the fans in the best way.”
After this weekend’s tournament in Montevideo all 12 teams will travel to São Paulo for the final round of SVNS 2 competition.
Finishing in the top four of the overall standings will secure teams with a place at HSBC SVNS World Championship events in Hong Kong, Valladolid and Bordeaux.
