When a person thinks of Rugby League fashion they naturally think of the v across the chest, the three-quarter sleeves of the 80s and 90s and of course the silky shorts. There is a theory that the common V across the shirt on the Rugby League jersey was used to exaggerate the chest size. No doubt it would of scared the opposition if the opposing forward pack was full of barrel chested front rowers.
The silky shorts are unique to Rugby League in comparison with the other code which continues to persevere with a disgrace of a garment made of cotton. Cotton! Its unbelievable the Rah Rahs still stick with this. This may have helped in the development of the current NZ fashion trend of wearing NRL shorts everywhere. These versatile garments can be worn just about anywhere in NZ down to the beach, at the local bar or to Rugby Union training. The benefits of the Rugby League shorts are in the comfort, the silkiness of the fabric on the skin is divine and can often be worn without underwear.
What does it also say about NZ culture? Perhaps it is an indication that New Zealanders love their Rugby League but need to keep this love on the down low to avoid persecution? For instance you are more likely to have a successful job interview in NZ wearing NRL shorts rather than an NRL jersey.

Hopefully this will mean a new Auckland league team to support in the west. Big Warriors fan but it’s very, very stale on that front and I’d like the option of another team if it was to watch league again. League needs to step up BIG time if its to get anywhere, another AK team and something from the capitol or south is a must for the game.

They’re being well paid to sit in the injury ward every year. Better off putting those funds towards someone who might actually play.

77 Go to commentsYep, lost in translation. There are arrogant people in Ireland, yes. As there are arrogant people in every country, but as a nation, arrogance is not a general characteristic in Ireland. There has not really had a strong representation for any global sport over the years, and hence arrogance is not endemic to Irish people in this regard. I seriously doubt that was said or meant by 12 or 13 players. If it was said, it would have been said in jest and to pay Etzebeth and the Springboks a compliment for how hard fought the game was.

If coaches played their players through niggles and consistently played them 80mins then you could make an argument for resting protocols - they obviously don’t and are incredibly responsible, let’s give up the resting nonsense and let the boys play.
