Eleven weeks in and the NRL ladder is still as congested as Kiwi players nostrils the morning after a test match, look the Knights can still conceivably make the eight and so can the Tigers but we are putting a black sharpie line through both of them, can’t we?

That means we have fourteen teams legitimately in contention for the eight, the Eels just consigned themselves to 11th place (thanks Mitchell Moses!) and the Rabbitohs just don’t have enough cattle to get to 28 points.

Ok then so now we are down to twelve legitimate contenders for the finals and if you are on the outside looking in it has to be encouraging to see the Eagles lose Tommy T, the Dragons drop three straight (no Widdop, Dugan and Aitken not helping) and the Dogs looking about as predictable as a Tom Hanks movie.

You would have to say the Raiders make a deep run and the Panthers second half steamrolling of the Warriors kicks them into gear meaning that the Titans and Warriors have a sniff but a remote one at that…

The next five weeks decides it all for the four teams above, they must take advantage of the Origin period which has traditionally been a 6 week banquet for the Warriors, there will be some teams that fall back like the Broncos and Sharks and some that disappear completely (Eagles prime contenders for this) but this is the time to make a run…if not now then start blooding some youngsters and get the Mad Monday preparations started because it’s curtains.
