L'âge et la rémunération au cœur de la campagne de la LNR

Dans un mois tout juste, le 13 mars, la Ligue Nationale de Rugby (LNR) aura un nouveau président. Ou pas. Deux candidats seulement sont déclarés : le sortant René Bouscatel (78 ans) et Yann Roubert (47 ans). Pas la même personnalité et surtout, pas le même âge. Trente ans de moins entre les deux, ce n’est pas neutre. Un écart d’âge qui, étonnamment, est au cœur du débat actuel.

À tel point que Bouscatel a déclaré dans L’Équipe cette semaine que « ce n’est pas l’âge du capitaine qui compte mais son expérience et sa stature ». Pourquoi cette sortie alors que l’actuel président n’était pas interrogé sur son âge ? Il semble que cette affaire soit moins une question de coquetterie qu’un véritable point de différenciation entre les deux candidats.

Faut-il rémunérer le président ?

Dans le Midol du 14 février, Yann Roubert plaide pour que le président de la LNR soit rémunéré et se justifie : « Je ne suis pas encore à la retraite et je n’ai pas les moyens de ne pas travailler, même le temps d’un mandat de quatre ans. » La somme de 20 000 € mensuels a été évoquée pour rémunérer un poste qui, jusqu’à présent, ne l’a jamais été.

« Je reste persuadé que c’est une évolution logique pour la LNR d’avoir un président salarié, cela va même dans le sens de l’histoire », insiste-t-il avant d’ajouter : « Si je suis élu et s’ils se prononcent contre la rémunération du président, je rechercherai alors un nouveau job, en complément. » Bouscatel n’y voit d’ailleurs pas d’inconvénient à avoir un autre job : « Quel président de la LNR n’a pas continué à travailler en dehors de moi parce que je suis retraité » ?

Risque de conflits d’intérêts ?

Mais cet argument de l’âge cache un autre aspect autrement plus prosaïque : la situation professionnelle de Yann Roubert. En tant que patron du LOU (depuis 2012) et salarié de GL Events, il bénéficie d’une rémunération et, s’il veut éviter tout conflit d’intérêt, il a intérêt à mettre entre parenthèses cette vie pendant la durée du mandat.

Propriétaire du Racing 92, l’influent Jacky Lorenzetti résume très bien le dilemme : « Je n’ai rien contre Yann Roubert, mais il souhaite être un président rémunéré. À l’instant où beaucoup de présidents souhaitent faire des économies et répartir au mieux les recettes de la Ligue, ça me semble contradictoire », assure-t-il.

« Les liens entre Yann Roubert et GL Events, le probable nouvel exploitant du Stade de France, peuvent aussi poser des soucis de conflits d’intérêts lorsqu’il faudra renégocier les conditions d’accueil des finales de Top 14. »

Deux arguments qui semblent, d’un coup, plier le match… qui se joue encore pendant un mois.
