Les changements de France 7 pour le SVNS Cape Town

Ça tourne déjà pour le deuxième tournoi de la saison à Cape Town les 7 et 8 décembre. Les équipes de France de rugby à 7 évolue en prévision de l’étape sud-africaine avec trois arrivées.

Chez les filles, Rose-Marie Fiafialoto (23 ans) fait son entrée dans le groupe de 14 joueuses en remplacement de Cléo Hagel (blessée) avec des débuts espérés dans les matchs de la poule C face à l’Espagne et à l’Irlande. Elle est accompagnée de la Lyonnaise Noa Coudre (19 ans), ancienne cadette du RCT passée par France 7 Développement.

Demie d’ouverture et ailière à l’ASM Romagnat Clermont Auvergne, « Losa » Fiafialoto est originaire de Wallis-et-Futuna. Elle jouait à 7 il y a exactement un an aux Jeux du Pacifique aux Iles Salomon où l’équipe de Wallis et Futuna avait terminé avec la médaille de bronze aux côtés de sa sœur Nathalie et de l’internationale quinziste Teani Feleu.

Chez les garçons, on note deux changements suite aux forfaits de Grégoire Arfeuil et Romain Gardrat. Ils sont remplacés par Simon Desert (23 ans, 184 cm pour 80 kg), ailier de l’US Carcassonne (passé auparavant par Béziers et Toulouse) champion d’Europe de rugby à 7 2024, et par Joe Quere-Karaba (20 ans), troisième-ligne d’1,80 m de Toulon, qui avait particulièrement brillé en termes d’explosivité et de vitesse lors du championnat du monde des U20 en juillet dernier.

Les équipes de France à 7 ont globalement réussi leur début de saison lors de la première étape à Dubaï le week-end dernier, marqué par une médaille de bronze pour France 7 Féminin et une encourageante 5e place pour France 7 Masculin.

Le tournoi sera diffusé gratuitement sur RugbyPass TV.

If you look at NZ bazz, they are doing things in a similar vain where they play high risk footy, but i think they accept that errors will happen, just hopefully the positives outweigh the negatives. Converting 6/10 chances is better than 4/5 so to speak.

Haha not far off but him and Dmac used to alternate between 10 and 15 ( jersey number included) in u20s then some of his early games for Cantabs but not Saders as I remember injury meant he got the 10 jersey early killed it and the rest is history as they say

Makes sense in the big picture. DMac is our 15 who can paly 10. BB is there for insurance. Jacomb is not ready for a world cup. We have a year to get ready for RWC so RM in now learning the systems is vital. Our 2 tens for RWC are logically RM and RL. Lets not get hung up on having so many 10s on tour. BB will be vital on this tour as a 15 backup if DMac doesnt recover

It’s puzzling because 6-2 also fits the high intensity game the ABs want to play. The risk of not doing so is also very significant. How many teams have learnt the lesson and yet still no evolution by the ABs.

This is an awesome move. Maddi’s one of my favourite 7’s players and it’ll be great to see how she goes in the XV game, especially without the space she is used to. She’s got some great skills and I think she’ll be a star as much as she is in 7’s.

'Bit unfair': Bulls boss Johan Ackermann's vow before All Blacks clash

“kicked out”. Safas clutch so desperately to their string of victim pearls that excuses are always at the ready to explain away their own poor management decisions. SARU threatened their SANZAR partners for years that ‘because of viewership numbers’ that they were owed a bigger slice of the broadcasting rights pie. Aus and NZ quite rightly told them to FO, SANZAR was an equal partnership. Notwithstanding that each partner brought their own strengths and weaknesses, certainly a winning record completely escaped SA teams as part of their ‘package’. OFS were chopped, and early, despite being 1 of the more attractive SA teams to watch. Still the concentration of SA players from 5 teams to 4 had little discernible improvement on teams performance. In fact, SA teams were - by far - the least successful partner. Only 1 Champion SA club whereas all 3 origin Aus teams won and all 5 NZ teams have won. SA teams had a 22% win rate in NZ - so noone was turning up to watch them - whilst NZ teams had a 50% win rate in SA. When Covid pandemic hit the entire World and, NZ for 1 closed borders in and out, obviously this impacted an International competition and whilst a trans-Tasman lite-Super comp returned eventually, SARU used this opportunity to scream “we’ve been kicked out”. The reality was a temporary solution that would have soon corrected itself. Of course everyone knows the Safas innately clutch desperately to being a victim - ‘noone likes us, we dont care’ - and everyone outside of SA knows that the truth is found elsewhere. After only a few seasons of turning up to matches with teams full of development players in the URC/Champions Cup, those partner nations and their fans are already sick of the moaning and whinging that inherently accompanies all things Sth African. SARU are probably still kidding themselves that they will enter the 6Nations and that they will be “kicked out” of the Rugby Championship. What a bunch of big babies.
