Pas moins de 14 joueurs du groupe de préparation des Samoa pour la Coupe du Monde de Rugby 2023 en France évolue dans le Top 14.

C’est le cas de Brian Alainu’uese (Toulon), Paul Alo-Emile (Stade Français), So’otala Fa’aso’o (Perpignan), Charlie Faumuina (Stade toulousain), Seilala Lam (Perpignan), Titi Lamositele (Montpellier), Fritz Lee (Clermont), Genesis Mamea-Lemalu (Perpignan ?), Jordan Taufua (Lyon), Tumua Manu (Section paloise), Tim Nanai-Williams (Stade toulousain), Duncan Paia’aua (Toulon), UJ Seuteni (Stade rochelais), Lima Sopoaga (Lyon).

L’équipe compte également quelques arrivées notables, profitant du changement des règles d’éligibilité de World Rugby qui permettent désormais aux joueurs de changer de sélection nationale sous certaines conditions.

Ce changement a ainsi ouvert la voie à l’intégration de l’ancien demi d’ouverture des Wallabies Christian Leali’ifano, et des anciens All Blacks Charlie Faumuina, Steven Luatua et Lima Sopoaga.

Le sélectionneur Mapusua a choisi un mélange de joueurs expérimentés et de talents prometteurs. Parmi les joueurs les plus importants, on compte neuf joueurs qui n’ont pas encore été formés, ce qui témoigne de l’engagement des Samoa à développer de nouveaux talents.

Ces joueurs auront l’occasion de faire leurs preuves et de se faire une place sur la scène internationale.

Dans le pack d’avants, des joueurs comme Michael Ala’alatoa, Jack Lam et Chris Vui apporteront leur expérience et leur leadership à l’équipe. Ils seront rejoints par de nouveaux venus, dont Miracle Fai’ilagi, Samuel Slade et Alamanda Motuga, qui auront à cœur de faire bonne impression.

Tim Nanai-Williams, qui a déjà représenté les Samoa, apporte son expertise à l’équipe, tout comme Nigel Ah Wong et Melani Matavao. Les arrières encore non sélectionnés comme Tumua Manu et Martini Talapusi auront l’occasion de prouver leur valeur.
