Une semaine après avoir fait tomber Provence Rugby sur sa pelouse, Valence-Romans s’attaque à un nouveau défi de taille : un déplacement à Brive, avec l’ambition de rester dans le haut du classement de Pro D2.

Les Drômois, troisièmes avec huit points, ont créé la surprise au stade Maurice-David (33-30), une performance qu’aucune équipe n’avait réussie lors des deux dernières saisons régulières. Valence-Romans devra donc réaliser un gros match vendredi 12 septembre à Brive (5e, 6 points), deuxième de la saison régulière l’an dernier. Le CAB, accroché par Vannes lors de la première journée, a ensuite retrouvé des couleurs à Dax.

Colomiers, toujours sur la dynamique de sa belle fin de saison passée, se déplacera à Oyonnax. Vannes (4e, 7 points) ira à Mont-de-Marsan, sèchement battu à Agen (53-7) la semaine dernière.

Enfin, Provence Rugby (13e, 2 points) tentera de se relancer devant son public contre Biarritz, après deux premiers revers accompagnés seulement de bonus défensifs.

It’s puzzling because 6-2 also fits the high intensity game the ABs want to play. The risk of not doing so is also very significant. How many teams have learnt the lesson and yet still no evolution by the ABs.

This is an awesome move. Maddi’s one of my favourite 7’s players and it’ll be great to see how she goes in the XV game, especially without the space she is used to. She’s got some great skills and I think she’ll be a star as much as she is in 7’s.

“kicked out”. Safas clutch so desperately to their string of victim pearls that excuses are always at the ready to explain away their own poor management decisions. SARU threatened their SANZAR partners for years that ‘because of viewership numbers’ that they were owed a bigger slice of the broadcasting rights pie. Aus and NZ quite rightly told them to FO, SANZAR was an equal partnership. Notwithstanding that each partner brought their own strengths and weaknesses, certainly a winning record completely escaped SA teams as part of their ‘package’. OFS were chopped, and early, despite being 1 of the more attractive SA teams to watch. Still the concentration of SA players from 5 teams to 4 had little discernible improvement on teams performance. In fact, SA teams were - by far - the least successful partner. Only 1 Champion SA club whereas all 3 origin Aus teams won and all 5 NZ teams have won. SA teams had a 22% win rate in NZ - so noone was turning up to watch them - whilst NZ teams had a 50% win rate in SA. When Covid pandemic hit the entire World and, NZ for 1 closed borders in and out, obviously this impacted an International competition and whilst a trans-Tasman lite-Super comp returned eventually, SARU used this opportunity to scream “we’ve been kicked out”. The reality was a temporary solution that would have soon corrected itself. Of course everyone knows the Safas innately clutch desperately to being a victim - ‘noone likes us, we dont care’ - and everyone outside of SA knows that the truth is found elsewhere. After only a few seasons of turning up to matches with teams full of development players in the URC/Champions Cup, those partner nations and their fans are already sick of the moaning and whinging that inherently accompanies all things Sth African. SARU are probably still kidding themselves that they will enter the 6Nations and that they will be “kicked out” of the Rugby Championship. What a bunch of big babies.

Tbh I’m not sure if I like Beaudie ( tho I still love him ) part of the equation ..my puku is telling Beaudie at 15 this WE has more to do with the next guy if Dmac can’t play next week than it does with giving Jacomb the 10 jersey and if it happens reckon some ABs fans will lose there mind haha not in a good way .

But Renz&co like having another ball player guy who can kick at the back to cover 10 snd use bench spots for more physical impact players

some good questions there and it’s going to be interesting to see how they pan out. Reiko at 13 is a bit of a worry because he still hasn’t demonstrated that he knows when to pass and when not to and how to create space for the back 3. At the same time he can cover 13 and wing so not a bad option and probably a better bench option than ALB. BB at 15 is interesting and I think, like DMac he may be better suited there now

It is thing tho aint it ….Oz loosies are all great but do lack versatility of position or have not been tried enough across backrow from what I have heard from Les I think he is acutely aware of this why you getting the Fraser Carlos chitchat and would be nice if Cale saw time at 6 or 7 even in Super to end games or whatever ..does Pete Samu have one more big year in him ? fits the bill if he does

In a 5|3 Reiko is probably the 3rd choice back, who will likely be sacrificed if they go 6|2.

You have to ask a simple question - are we more likely to beat the SB’s with 6 forwards coming off the bench and what difference would Ioane make if we can’t compete against the SB bench.
