I’m talking about the ref. He could have issued a straight red with no need for TMO intervention. It was an obvious red. He looked at it a few times and then gave a yellow and referral. Passed the buck. Pivotal time of the game as well so France got lucky with the call.

Here is his testimony on Ntamack written decision showing he (and Ntamack) knew exactly the difference between that case and Ringrose (red card before a fallow week yes/no). They also knew the only player to benefit from such a situation was Willemse in 2024.

Establishing that a player was “expected to play” for his club in the first fallow week is very difficult in the context of red cards / citations following Six Nations match week 1 fixtures. The biggest variable – performance in match week 2 – is not yet known, and without that information France Men’s Head Coach cannot say definitively (nor is he required to say under the terms of the FFR / LNR Agreement) whether after match week 1 a player would have been designated for the first fallow week. The “expected to play” wording requires a great deal of speculation in the context of a Six Nations match week 1 fixture so far as it concerns France players”

You will never get another team to tour again. As an Irish supporter it was a good achievement for that team to win a test series in NZ. But it put a target on our back for the RWC. Jordan said that NZ strategy a year out turned to beating Ireland given the RWC draw and that tour. It was the right strategy and bar a red card in the final should have earned NZ a RWC title.


But was it worth Ireland’s while in terms of RWC prospects giving NZ that IP on us?

France may be thinking that they have three wins against NZ and giving them a full look at their set up may do more harm than good. As an Irish fan I know that winning that tour did not gain Ireland any respect from NZ fans. The opposite. So I don’t see many clear gains for France sending the A team especially in view of the fact that they have a series win in NZ already.

This is no disrespect from France. Our key players just play way too much, much more that any other team (in NH at least). It wouldn't be safe for them to play 3 more games at the highest level on the other side of the world. And I’m not sure that exhausted “premium players” would do better that “fresh” young lads.

Not that I necessarily agree with him in this particular case, but I think Youngs is generally rated.

Not an England fan, but guy’s won four 6N titles (including one Grand Slam), won a Lions’ Series, and has a bronze and a silver from RWC, on top of being a test centurion, and the most capped player for his country.

Suffice it to say, that only yesterday he’s forgotten more about rugby, than you or I will ever know.

Mick Cleary: 'England are back among the heavyweights.'

Borthwick is doing a fine job. He had less world class players than Eddie Jones & Lancaster to build his group. He built a gameplan wich is maybe not the most enjoyable to watch, but quite efficient. And he is slowly filling the gaps in the team with young and (very) promising players like Finn Smith, and by repositionning players where there is a need for the team (Freeman, Marcus Smith…). The gameplan is starting to evolve toward a more ambitious strategy. It reminds me the building of the french team during Galthié's first term. As a frenchman, I really hope the draw for WC27 won't put the french and the english team in the same pool...

Not sure I’d write Ireland off after one unsuccessful 6N campaign. That’d be a bit premature.

They really only looked very good in one game (vs. Scotland), and against both Wales as well as Italy, they looked pretty poor, but having the ability to win matches in which they play below their standard is a measure of a great team.

Ireland did not look great, they looked average at times. Yet they still won 4 out of 5, and that’s nothing to scoff about.
