Il n’y avait pas grand monde devant son écran de TV samedi après-midi, mais au moins près d’un spectateur sur cinq regardait le match de la France au Pays de Galles, deuxième du Tournoi des Six Nations 2026.

Alors que les filles de François Ratier bataillaient pour arracher la victoire 38 à 7 à Cardiff, on comptait 1,46 millions de téléspectateurs sur France TV en plein après-midi, soit 19,6% de part d’audience.

« Succès pour le rugby féminin hier sur France 2 qui se place en tête des audiences », analysait le média spécialisé PureMédia.

Cette audience est légèrement en baisse par rapport au match d’ouverture face à l’Italie diffusé une semaine plus tôt – 1,70 million de téléspectateurs – mais la part d’audience reste stable (19,20% une semaine plus tôt).

yeah no he can actually (you only need 1 hb) same reason you only need 1 hooker. you take 2 just for safety but his replacement for the last 5m should be Hotham ,preston or pledger.

Sorry, but I have to say it. He wasn't a very good asset in Toulon. Yellow after yellow he destroyed some really important matches all alone, and in less than 2 minutes on the pitch. A big disappointment…

Like more than half of the Moana Pacifika squad - which was never a true pacific Islander team in the sense of representing the islands. Closer to an Auckland team based on ethnicity. The wind up merchants prefer to ignore those inconvenient facts.

I get that HH but in the here and now unless all u think that matters is next year that’s some good players who ain’t be playing I mean SFM month early and hasn’t been playing Libbock playing div 2 Japan Pollard not having greatest season must give some concern or u think it matters not to much up front

That's a fair point. Match fitness absolutely matters.

My only point is that returning "cold" isn't the only factor coaches consider. They also look at years of Test performance, how a player trains, experience under pressure, and whether they can execute the game plan.

All of that seems fair enough, aside from the 10 criticism: Lynagh was injured so not up for selection this year + missed most of SR, Noah went to Japan league 2, maybe an argument for bringing him back in early, but we had Carter. Dono and Meredith (who looks decent enough). Definitely not a straightforward call. Edmed was an experiment that didn’t bear fruit, I’m happy to forgive him that one though, because he did what Cheik and Rennie didn’t do, which was consistently look to develop young 10s in the face of criticism (Rennie’s chopping and changing wasn’t great for Noah, and it was back to the future too often for Cheik, which hurt our development pathways e.g. Mack Mason, Jack Maddocks, and too often gambling on people out of position—more than Joe!). Tane is one specific failed experiment. l just wish we had a more scrupulous punditry when it comes to the recent past (your obvs not in the crosshairs here, it’s the Aussie media). TBH, I worry about the identity piece: feel it should be the salt on the meal, rather than the meal. The Reds are full of Aussie identity but they play the most hairpulling rugby at times and the identity seems to excuse this, while the Brums with less talent and less of an identity in the Australian mould over perform. To be optimistic, maybe it does look a little like the Ireland transition with Les coming in a bit like Farrell, seemingly more of a emotive, man motivator type than the technician Joe. What would have been fantastic and helped everything also was for RA not to burn bridges with Lancaster and be able to get him back and have the Tahs cooking, that is one big piece of the puzzle (the Tahs) that will make our national coach’s job a lot easier.

I hope STT’s inclusion is confirmed tomorrow. Among those 10 selected players, I’d really like to see several young, high-potential prospects. If it’s just to pick Blackadder and Kirifi, I don’t think it makes much sense. We already know what they can bring at international level, but we also know their limitations.

For the first three matches, the All Blacks need to test their depth and get a look at the next generation of All Blacks.
