Il partagera la position de talonneur avec Guillaume Marchand, Yanis Charcosset et l’international fidjien Sam Matavesi.
C’est un gros coup pour le LOU, actuellement dixième du Top 14, qui a dû faire face à une concurrence de taille, puisque Clermont, Bayonne et Vannes avaient également exprimé leur intérêt pour Chat.
Le talonneur, qui n’a évolué que pour le Racing 92 depuis ses débuts professionnels en 2013, marque ainsi un tournant dans sa carrière.
Le 16 décembre dernier, Camille Chat était arrivé à l’entraînement alcoolisé, au lendemain d’un repas de Noël entre joueurs. Il avait été écarté du groupe aux côtés de Janick Tarrit, qui ne s’était pas présenté à l’entraînement. Si Tarrit a réintégré l’équipe la semaine suivante, Chat, sous contrat jusqu’en 2027, a trouvé un accord pour se séparer à l’amiable du club, une décision annoncée par le président Laurent Travers le 6 janvier.
Formé au club de Toucy et au Rugby Club Auxerrois, Chat avait été un pilier du Racing 92 depuis 2013. Cependant, après une série d’incidents disciplinaires, dont une altercation avec Vinaya Habosi en 2023, son comportement extra-sportif a terni son image.
