Firstly only 1 country wins at WC time, so isolating individual World cup results is not easy. Infact pretty much impossible. Simply following history gives a far better view over a far longer period.

Im very happy to say NZ wasn’t good enough in 2019. Simple. Barnes had his final say at cheating as a ref in 2023.

Maybe or maybe not. Why don’t you answer my question about the All Blacks at the last 2 World Cups when they do it “correctly” which is how you see it right?

Perhaps, again that’s not proven. Ireland had a great attitude to the mid year tour in 2022 and beat NZ in a series. Where is their World Cup trophy in 2023? Like I said before, there are many factors which goes into winning - only one team can win as you well know.

All good. If you believe France do it correctly that's fine. I have a different opinion and at this point my views are backed up by French success at WC time. Its going to take a long time to change reality, but maybe touring together mid year would have made France 2-3 points better when it matters most.

If you look at results over history, France come close a lot. Perhaps a different attitude to the mid year tours would have been enough to win a WC like SA, NZ, Aus and England. Depth is great but it’s not a simple numbers game. Quality is also required.

So what is the reason for the All Blacks not winning the last two when they do the opposite? Tour together, gel together and prioritise the national team.

I’d say France weren’t a top team from around 2013-2018 where they were in the banter era. Recently they are, in the last World Cup they just met the eventual winners where they lost by 1 point. Just like New Zealand.

Well if it’s anything like history, France will name their best side then those players will all disagree with each other or with the coach by week 4 of the WC, and will fail to gell as a team because they don’t tour together.

History seems to constantly repeat with France. They have been a top side for a long long time. Sadly their decision making around their priorities, ( like not selecting there best players for SH tours ) comes and bites them.

Yeah same! I’ve thought they were interesting enough to look for but in general my summation is that they are normal fairly minor even irrelevant factors, if not that I just plain disagree with him.

That could be me of course, he has a word limit so can’t really go on and on explaining the importance of the things he points out and I suspect you really have to almost avoid enjoying a game to catch things like who was doing what in a lineout. I was always a bit of a ball watcher though, still nice that some else feels as unenlightened!
