Heard it before when O’Driscoll and O’Connell retired that they were supposedly our golden generation. I think that the turning point in Irish rugby was actually professionalism. Think you will find that since the introduction of professional sides in Ireland Irish rugby has steadily improved year on year. I don’t expect you to provide me with much insight into rugby in Ireland.

I recall amelia harper as she was ,what a great prospect she was and had wondered what had happened to her,seems like shes been through a lot. great shes back playing though. With quins having so many top backrowers ,you do wonder if this is where some sort of A team league or championship with sides properly linked to prem sides should come in,so that players fresh back from injury or pregnancy , young u20 players and fringe players can get meaningful game time. At the moment there is no A league and seemingly not many players drop down into the champs to play regularly. some of the younger have bucs but only some.This is something that needs to be developed more especially with so many non english players in the prem now.

These guys turn into pessimistic miserable old gits. If I remember correctly, England went through a similar situation a couple of years, SA did maybe 7 years ago, France constantly go through it. It's Ireland's turn and they will come out of it. Just a matter of how long the downturn lasts. All this crap about no players coming through is total BS.

“Much more respectable 54-3”. Seriously?

Sorry, but this is too silly. 54-3 is an utter rout. What the score said at half time is immaterial, as worse teams tend to offset the performance gap with an unsustainable level of effort, and then fall apart. Which is evidently what happened. Besides, the Georgians knew, they won their previous match 110-0, and they were going to win again. Likely didn’t field their A team, either.

I agree, we moved from 3 subs (amateur) to 8 subs (professional) and then we have focussed on the strategy to maximise the 8 to impact the game.

The essence of the game was XV vs XV and feels like it is XXIII vs XXIII.

Personally, I would prefer 7 subs on the bench, with only 5 changes (which would create more space on the pitch in the later stages of games).

The theoretical idea for the changes would be to have the 3x front row, a lock, a back row, a scrum half and utility back (as the planned changes) but ultimately, you would then see a more tactical use of the subs - do they start to play 80 min front rows to allow more back rows etc, do you change your forwards, do you see more hybrid players?
