Rugby League player suffers gruesome knee dislocation

Fans from both codes were shocked by a gruesome injury during a Super League contest between Hull FC and Hull KR.

The match saw back-rower Joe Westerman dislocate his kneecap while being tackled, but instead of succumbing to the pain, he simply banged it back into place and continued playing. 

This has caused quite a reaction from players in both codes on social media. This is the footage, and be warned, it is grim: 

Fans on Twitter were quick to compare the incident with some of the regular play acting that takes place in Football

Rugby league has long held the view that union is the softer form of the game, and on this particular occasion, it is hard to argue with that.
