Darcy Graham out of Six Nations as Scotland name 37-man squad

Scotland will be denied the services of wing Darcy Graham for the rest of the Six Nations.

The Edinburgh flyer had returned to training before the Italy fixture after a knee injury ruled him out of the opening two matches, but a setback in his recovery means he will play no part in the Championship.

Townsend has added Edinburgh lock Lewis Carmichael to a 37-man training squad that will gather on Monday to begin preparations to face the French.

The versatile Exeter lock Sam Skinner, who was not deemed sufficiently match-fit to be involved against Italy after only recently returning from a hamstring injury that forced him to miss the World Cup, is also included.

Skinner could push for a place in the match-day 23 against France – which Townsend will confirm on Friday – after playing the full 80-plus minutes in the Chiefs’ dramatic Premiership encounter at Harlequins on Saturday.

France have won on seven of their 10 Six Nations trips to Murrayfield, but lost on their last two visits in 2016 and 2018, as well as a World Cup warm-up Test last August.
