  • FULL TIME; WARATAHS 21, BLUES 24 - It's all over at Brookvale Oval and a thrilling finish to an open encounter has seen the Blues do enough to hold on. With a penalty-heavy second stanza seeing points restricted for both sides, a late try to Hooper saw the 'Tahs with a chance. It's the Blues who stood strong in defence though to deny the hosts as the visitors snatch a close three-point victory on the road.
    '
  • No issue with the conversion as Foley pilots this one home from right in front. With under five minutes left, it's the 'Tahs with the running as they look to chase down a three-point defecit. Are they good enough to pinch this one after trailing all night?

CONVERSION WARATAHS! (Bernard Foley). WARATAHS 21, BLUES 24.
    74''
  • NSW are a chance as they set up well from 35 metres out. With the ball spread to the right, it's Folau and Beale who provide for Hooper as the NSW skipper is able to punch his way through the line in order to find the chalk. Here come the hosts...

TRY WARATAHS! (Michael Hooper). WARATAHS 19, BLUES 24.
    70''
  • NSW keep shooting themselves in the foot as another string of penalties brings them unstuck. From 30 metres out, and with only a small angle to speak of, Perofeta nudges home the extras and the Blues lead it by 10. With 17 minutes remaining, the 'Tahs need to get on their bike.

    61''
  • A string of penalties against the 'Tahs sees the Blues rewarded with some decent field position as they go about extending their lead. From close range, Perofeta notches up the first points of the second half as he guides home the extras.

    57''
  • The last time that the Waratahs trailed at Half Time against a NZ-based team and managed to run out victors however dates back to March 24th 2013. Coincidentally, the NZ team they managed that victory over was tonight's opponent. The Blues. NSW trailing 24-10 at the interval before storming home to win 30-27.
    53''
  • When trailing at Half Time, the Waratahs have not a Super Rugby encounter against any opponent since April 29th 2017. On that occasion it was NSW trailing by 19-17 at the break before they finished strong to finish 29-26 over the Reds.
    50''
  • Between the 40th and 60th minute of matches this season, the Waratahs have scored the equal-second-highest amount of tries with 10 (tied with the Highlanders and Rebels). The Blues, for the same stanza, have scored eight five-pointers in this time.

  • HALF TIME; WARATAHS 14, BLUES 18 - We're done for the first half at Brookvale Oval and it's the Blues in control despite facing some challenges in an open first half. With Papali'i seeing time in the bin for a high shot on Clarke, the Waratahs were able to pin back an early 10-point defecit. With the Blues fighting though, they were able to respond through Manu before Kepu crossed before the break for the 'Tahs. At the long break, it's the Blues holding a narrow four-point lead.
    '
  • A coach-killing penalty to give just before the break as Kepu is caught offside with the Blues treading their wares. From close range, and potentially wanting to conserve energy, the visitors go for a shot. Perofeta makes no mistake from right in front to take the Blues out by four points.

  • No problem with Foley finding the two points as this shot is taken from the extremities of the right sideline. Holding its line from the moment it leaves the boot, the ball drops over the black dot and reduces the defecit to a single point. NSW with a fair run on right here..

CONVERSION WARATAHS! (Bernard Foley). WARATAHS 14, BLUES 15.
    37''
  • Smart play from NSW as short kick-off is worked to their advantage with Folau gathering the ball. With the Blues left-side under siege, it's Kepu who fancies the pick and go as he scoops up the ball and darts over from short range. Good arm wrestle starting to develop here..

TRY WARATAHS! (Sekope Kepu). WARATAHS 12, BLUES 15.
    35''
  • Perofeta can't work his magic on this shot however as he sets up five metres inside the right sideline. Started out to the right of the posts, the ball never fades back as required and ends up wide-right. Blues leading it by eight points just before the interval..
    34''
  • CONVERSION MISSED BLUES! (Stephen Perofeta). WARATAHS 7, BLUES 15.
    33''
  • Fantastic attack from the undermanned Blues as Duffie is released down the right. With the defensive line rounding him up, Duffie fires a ball over his right shoulder which hits Manu who comes inboard to dot down from 21 metres out. Some strikeback from the visitors.

TRY BLUES! (Tumua Manu). WARATAHS 7, BLUES 15.

  • Foley ensures that this trek into enemy territory comes with the full complement of points offered. Almost from right in front, Foley wheels in to bang over the extras on offer and we're back to a three-point with half-an-hour gone at Brookvale..

CONVERSION WARATAHS! (Bernard Foley). WARATAHS 7, BLUES 10.
    29''
  • It'st the 'Tahs with the numerical advantage as they set up five metres out from their chalk. With an honest push at the line, it's Fitzpatrick who gets himself to the front of the queue in order to be pushed over with a strong NSW rolling maul. The hosts are finally on the board!

TRY WARATAHS! (Damian Fitzpatrick). WARATAHS 5, BLUES 10.
    26''
  • It's a little sloppy but nothing too menacing in this effort as Folau creates an overlap down the right. With Clarke presented an opportunity to spear over in the right corner, a high tackle from Papali'i puts paid to that. No penalty try but it's definitely yellow-card material.
    24''
  • Yellow Card
    YELLOW CARD BLUES! (Dalton Papali'i).
    23''
  • NSW can't afford to be giving away cheap penalties like this as Miller is penalised for interferring at the breakdown. Lucky not to see a yellow card, the Blues have a decision to make from 35 metres out. It's a shot that's decided on before Perofeta drives home from 15m inside the right sideline.

  • Penalty Goal
PENALTY GOAL BLUES! (Stephen Perofeta). WARATAHS 0, BLUES 10.
    19''
  • Certain points saved by the 'Tahs on this occasion as a turnover close to their tryline sees Ioane released to vacant territory. With Ioane pinning his ears back, he looks odds-on to cross the line before he's run down from behind by Clark to be nabbed three metres short. Incredible.
    17''
  • This is the kind of attempt you want as a goalkicker as Perofeta is allowed to set up just to the left of the posts. With no breeze to speak of, the ball is hooked over the black dot and the Blues stretch their lead to 7 points with 15 minutes played..

CONVERSION BLUES! (Stephen Perofeta). WARATAHS 0, BLUES 7.
    13''
  • It's the Waratahs flirting with danger as a clearing kick from Pulu hits the turf and trickles along the sideline. With Folau firing the ball across the defensive line, it's bumbled by Beale before Ioane turns it over, scoops it over and charges into the left corner with it.
    11''
  • Try
TRY BLUES! (Rieko Ioane). WARATAHS 0, BLUES 5.
    9''
  • An opportunity for the 'Tahs to post first points for the evening is squandered as Clarke is penalised for joining the ruck from the side. With about 20 metres to work with, and 15 metres inside the right sideline, Foley's kick is pushed across the face. The Blues escape..
    7''
  • PENALTY GOAL MISSED WARATAHS! (Bernard Foley). WARATAHS 0, BLUES 0.
    5''
  • Both the Waratahs and Blues struggle to score five-pointers inside the opening 20 minutes of games this year with the 'Tahs having only scored five. The Blues actually fare worse with the visitors only having crossed the line four times in this stanza. The lowest team in the competition for this stat is the Brumbies with 3.
