View all Gloucester news The history of the Gloucester Rugby union side dates all the way back to the club’s formation in 1873. As a result, they purchased a small patch of land to use as their own in 1891. The Gloucester Rugby union side has played rugby there ever since. Today, it’s known as the Kingsholm Stadium.
